Swim Season

Morning my friends,

That's it, swim season has officially started... There were so many people this morning exercising on the beach and going for a swim.

Water is super fine at the moment but not necessarily the cleanest after the big surf that we had over the last few days.

This morning with a sore head, we all trained at the jungle gym to get rid of all the pizzas and beers that we had last night at Mia Pizzeria in Bellevue Hill, my new hood. All you can eat pizza for $25 on Mondays. Let's be honest they ran at a loss yesterday! 8 boys eating for 16. ;)

Enough for today, here are the photos...

Ciao!

Bondi to Bronte

Morning peeps,

How was your weekend? Mine was fabulous, thanks for asking, it all started in Bronte pool with Caroline Groth (see the photo here), then dinner with friends on Saturday night, filming with Airbnb and Le Cut Studio on Sunday morning and lunch with friends...

Here you go, you know it all...

This morning we went running with Hamishton and as I did last Monday, I took the camera with me and stopped along the way to take some photos. Perfect interval running really!

Enjoy the photos and have a lovely week, mine is going to be busy but lovely!

Ciao!

Wet Friday

Morning my friends,

What a beautiful week it's been and apparently this weekend is going to be another good one with massive surf. We are so lucky to live in this part of the world!

This morning we did hill sprint with the crew, I took a few shots while catching my breath. Once we were done with it, we went in the water to play with my Olympus water housing. God I'm obsessed with this thing, it's actually a dream coming through. I swim everyday, all season and I have a true love for the ocean. This thing is just perfect for me! I really hope that the guys from Olympus will end-up giving it to me.

Enough begging for today, here are the photos. Have a fantastic weekend my friends!

Lemon Spicy

Morning my friends,

What a cracker of a morning it was, again!

We went to the jungle gym with the gang, coffee and then quick photo shoot with the beautiful Roos who kindly ask me if I could help her out.

When life gives you lemons add some spice that's what they say... Or at least that's what I say! Roos that I've know for almost 7 years has started her own label called Lemon Spicy Sustainable Swimwear.

The whole collection is made from Italian fabric with Econyl, a recycled fiber made from ghost fishing nets and other post-consumer waste. How smart is that! When wearing Lemon Spicy you basically contribute to decreasing the pollution.

Right now to make her dream a reality she is running a crowdfunding campaign. Go and check out the whole story and help her out, right HERE.

That's all, go Roos and go you guys!

Warm Wednesday

Morning my friends,

You can definitely tell that Spring has sprung... It was actually pretty warm this morning and the boxing session didn't help as well. After a few rounds, there was even a bit of sweat... (sorry for the details)

This morning there were a few decent waves, Joel even took out his big wave board, the water was amazeball, there was a bit of activity on the sand between the Bondi Mermaid doing some belly dancing and Chris Prestidge doing a photo shoot.

I guess that's it for today...

Cheers,

Amaury

PS: A lot of my mates, told me they prefer the photos since I've been shooting with my Olympus kit. What do you reckon? You like it? Really keen to hear your thoughts. Comments below.

Papa Day!

Morning my friends,

This morning no exercise as my daughter Charlotte decided to wake-up early. So instead, we just went for coffee, caught-up with Paul and Hamish and photos.

I actually think that Charlotte loves coming with her Papa and his friends. You can tell that she is having a really good time running around, getting looked after by the boys... When comes summer, I actually can't wait for her to join me in the water too!

I guess that's it for today...

Old school

Morning my friends,

Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was not bad at all with a lot of shooting involved and a great Father's Day.

For the ones that don't follow Morning Bondi on Instagram, you definitely should as I've posted heaps of photos during the weekend. I basically played with the Olympus water housing and I love it! Instagram here: @MorningBondi

Now you might wonder why the name of the post today is 'Old school'. Well it's as simple as what I have done today is exactly what I used to do a few years ago ie. running with a camera. When I started Morning Bondi almost 6 years ago, I used to take my phone with me and take photos while exercising. I quickly got frustrated with the quality and then took a compact camera. And once again, I got frustrated with the quality and moved to a big SLR which made it impossible to run with.

Thanks to compactness and light weight of the Olympus SLR, I could actually run and take photos. So here you go my friends, you are coming with me on the run...

Have a great week,

Amaury

Spring time!

Morning my friends and see you later Winter,

To be honest you weren't that bad... I guess we were very lucky this year, it's been a pretty amazing winter!

So I have some pretty exciting news, Olympus have lend me their sexy OM-D E-M1 Mark II camera to try as well as their underwater case. It's actually a dream coming through... I always wanted a water housing but it's fairly expensive. Anyway a massive thanks to Ante from Olympus and the rest of the team. You guys rock!

So this morning I went shooting with my new gear... I was lucky enough to have it all: cockatoo posing for me, friends, rainbow, interesting sky and amazing waves...

See the result here. What do you reckon?

Have a cracking weekend and you will find me in the water. ;)

J'aime l'Icebergs

Morning my friends,

As I was telling you yesterday, unfortunately, as I have an early event in the city, it was impossible for me to go down the beach this morning - #FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out - that's what the kids say!)

So, as I couldn't make it down the beach I have decided to put a photo album with my best photos of the Icebergs instead. Why? You might ask? Well, that's actually a very good question! I actually have a real passion for it - it's very hard for me to resist not to go and take photos of the pool everyday. It is such a photogenic Bondi icon!

Over the years, I reckon I took over 5,000 photos of the Bondi Icebergs Club. I know, it's hard to believe but that should be about right and the other reason is that my most popular photo printed and framed is actually of the Icebergs - the famous (at least for me) 'First in, First ripples'.

Anyway, here are the photos and I promise that everything will be back to normal tomorrow...

Ciao!

Amaury

August favourites

Morning my friends,

As suspected, this morning was a bit tight for me to go down, exercise, take photos, select the top ones, edit them all and post them before heading to my workshop. I basically just went for a Bondi to Bronte run before the sunrise, coffee and quick swim. I was done in 45 minutes (so rare these days as I usually stay down the beach around 1.5 hour). I didn't take any photos today, just a video that I posted on my Instagram Story @morningbondi

So for today not to let you down, I have decided to put an album together with my favourite photos of the month. I actually came up with this idea last night when I was selecting my top ones to send to The Beast Magazine, as I do every month for the past 5 years

Talking about The Beast Magazine, if you haven't had a chance to read my interview in their last magazine, here it is: bit.ly/TheBeastInterview Thanks once again to James and Dan for the opportunity and to all my friends and magazine readers for their kind words. And yes it is an illusional optic, my shoulders are not that big! (this is for all my mates that are joking about it since the photo got published)

Enough talking, here are my favourite photos of the month.

Have a great day!

Amaury

PS: The bad news is that tomorrow morning I have an early breakfast in the city (7am) so unfortunately no Morning Bondi routine again. Do you have any suggestions of what you would like to see instead and I might be able to put it together tonight?

Bright early

Morning everyone,

Well today was interesting, it was actually more inviting and bright around 6am than it was at 7am. Really odd!

We went to the jungle gym with the crew then our usual coffee and photos. No swim today as I ran out of time - I was desperately waiting for the sun to pop but it never happened.

Tomorrow morning, I will try my best to go down the beach and capture some photos but I might not be able to as I'm animating a workshop for the PRIA (Public Relations Institute of Australia) quite early - 9am start. You can see it here and if you feel like joining the next one you can do it here. Wish me luck my friends!

I guess that's it for today, enjoy the photos and stay warm as it is pretty chilly!

Morning my friends,

How was your weekend? Mine was great but intense, it all started with a shoot with Airbnb (exciting news to come), a dinner with friends on Saturday night (without kids - the dream!) and a boxing match on TV with mates on Sunday.

This morning we went running with Julius along the coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte and we saw these gigantic rolling waves around Bronte, MacKenzie and South Bondi. Once back in Bondi, took our usual coffee at Chapter One and headed straight to Marks Park to take a few shots.

Not one surfer was brave enough to surf them... Although, I'm sure that if Joel Pilgrim and Chris Little were in town they would have gone for it! Missed out boys!

Morning my friends,

After weeks of amazing sunshine, today you could tell that it was winter: windy, gloomy and crisp.

We are not going to complain as this winter has been pretty damn good so far but still it would have been great to wake up to a bright sunshine. We only had it for 2 minutes. I can't wait for summer again!

Talking about summer, I've partnered with the fine team from PosterCandy to offer you an amazing deal. In very brief, you buy any of there posters and you get a limited edition print of one of my photos from last summer. How good is that?! I know too good to be true...

I guess that's it for the day, except probably that we did hill sprint with Paul, we had a long chat with Uge and the OneWave crew but you probably don't care about this bit.

Cheers!

Amaury

PS: After going to the hospital yesterday afternoon for Charlotte, she's finally better and we've had a proper night sleep somewhat. Thanks again for all your lovely messages! I know I can count on you. xx

Girls girls girls...

Morning my friends,

Hope you all had a good night sleep, personally I had what French people call a "Nuit Blanche" I didn't sleep at all. Why? Because I spent the whole night with a snoring cuddly baby on me. I can't wait for her to get better...

Anyway, you are not here for that, you are here to know what happened down the beach this morning. A couple of days ago, Annina contacted me to know if I could take photos of her SurfAid team in order to drive some donations. On which I responded, hell yes! Anything that involves, girls, bikinis and Bondi Beach I'm up for it... Just joking! I'm here for the cause. ;)

The SurfAid Cup is the signature fundraiser for SurfAid globally. SurfAid’s core mission is to save the lives of women and children in remote areas of Indonesia. They specialise in working in very isolated villages where the maternal and child mortality rate is extremely high. In the past sixteen years, in addition to building award winning health programs, SurfAid has helped communities re-build their lives after five major natural disasters — earthquakes and tsunamis in the area.

And this is this their fundraising page, their team is Saltwater Curls and they're the only all-female team in this years competition. Go girls! I'm proud of ya!

Beautiful Bondi

Morning my friends,

First of all, thank you so much to all of you for all your kind words about my daughter. That was another tough one last night... I took the second shift, so while my wife was looking after her from 11pm to 3am, I took the 3am-6:30am shift. Poor little thing! Let's hope that she get better soon...

This morning, too exhausted to exercise and too late anyway, I just went for coffee with my friend Simon, a few photos and my wake-up swim. Best decision ever made, I finally feel alive...

The surf was still pumping, there were a bit less surfers in the water and the sun was shining. Happy days!!

I love Australia. You love Australia. We all do! And this week guess what that is? It’s Keep Australia Beautiful Week, I had no idea that this existed but it’s a thing. Check their website for more info but basically it’s all about taking the pledge, to pick up 1 piece of rubbish per day for the week. I know, too easy but now it’s a matter of doing it!

Many thanks to the guys from Biology Skin for letting me know about this great initiative. To celebrate Keep Australia Beautiful Week, they are currently running a photo competition on Instagram encouraging people to share photos of Australia. All you need to do is follow them, tag @biologyskin and hashtag #keepaubeautifulwithbiology for your chance to be in the running to win 1 out of 3 Biology gift packs. I already scored one of them and trust me you want one! All Biology products are Australian made with native ingredients straight from the bush. Good on ya! (God, my Aussie slang is kickin’!) Check Morning Bondi Instagram Story if you want to see their sexy packaging!

I guess that’s it for today, enjoy the photos and as always... Stay cool!

Cheers,

Amaury

Sick! And I'm not talking about the surfing conditions or the number of surfers in the water or even my interview in The Beast Magazine but my poor daughter who is sick with 40.5 degrees temperature. I was up all night... How fun!

Today was pure madness way too many surfers out there, it was ding town and believe me I saw a few this morning. A real video game...

Other than this and as mentioned earlier, I had the chance to be featured in The Beast Magazine this month, read the interview here. Thank you so much to James and Dan for the opportunity and to Uge from Aquabumps for the photo.

How big was the surf all weekend?! Crazy! Today was same same but more surf friendly...

No exercise today, just by myself I went for coffee, photos and swim. Had a quick chat with Anna & Uge and back home.

Morning my friends,

How was your week? All ready to kick-off your weekend? I'm more than ready to be honest. I can't wait to rest a little.

This morning not much exercise for me as Charlotte woke up early and so I was looking after her and to be honest I couldn't be bothered. I had a few beers last night with my mate Anthony and so the motivation was pretty low...

Joined my mates for coffee, photos and swim. Always good to start your day like this...

Have a cracking weekend, it's meant to be pretty windy tomorrow.

Lake Bondi

Morning my friends,

Hope you all had a good night sleep.

This morning was pretty amazing down there. With no clouds in the sky, the sunrise was pretty bright, outside it was pretty mild which made the water actually colder than the air. Quite unusual at this time of the year.

Other than this, the good news is that the fine team from Olympus Australia got in touch with me and I should be receiving some gear to try out next week. Yew!! Thanks so much to them and to you for your support. Can I please ask you a favour and bombard them with likes and comments on their Facebook comment, they deserve a lot of love, as you also do. Merci!

Balmy

Hello friends,

First of all, thank you so much for all your support about my camera issues on Facebook, emails and Instagram. No sponsorship deal as yet but on a more positive note, I found the problem. I now know that the camera is fine but it's my lens that is having an issue...

So today I took my 50mm out, not ideal for surf photography but not bad at all for landscape and portraits...

Today was surprisingly warm out there, 22 degrees and we are in the middle of winter. Cray-cray!! I went down the beach with my daughter Charlotte and we joined our good friends David, Hamish, Simon and Paul. Talking about Paul, he took a cute photo of my daughter and I, thank you so much mate! I love it! Go and check it out here and give him a follow if you don't already.

That's it for today, enjoy the photos!
