Bright early

Morning everyone,

Well today was interesting, it was actually more inviting and bright around 6am than it was at 7am. Really odd!

We went to the jungle gym with the crew then our usual coffee and photos. No swim today as I ran out of time - I was desperately waiting for the sun to pop but it never happened.

Tomorrow morning, I will try my best to go down the beach and capture some photos but I might not be able to as I'm animating a workshop for the PRIA (Public Relations Institute of Australia) quite early - 9am start. Morning my friends,

How was your weekend? Mine was great but intense, it all started with a shoot with Airbnb (exciting news to come), a dinner with friends on Saturday night (without kids - the dream!) and a boxing match on TV with mates on Sunday.

This morning we went running with Julius along the coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte and we saw these gigantic rolling waves around Bronte, MacKenzie and South Bondi. Once back in Bondi, took our usual coffee at Chapter One and headed straight to Marks Park to take a few shots.

Not one surfer was brave enough to surf them... Although, I'm sure that if Joel Pilgrim and Chris Little were in town they would have gone for it! Missed out boys!

Morning my friends,

After weeks of amazing sunshine, today you could tell that it was winter: windy, gloomy and crisp.

We are not going to complain as this winter has been pretty damn good so far but still it would have been great to wake up to a bright sunshine. We only had it for 2 minutes. I can't wait for summer again!

Morning my friends,

Hope you all had a good night sleep, personally I had what French people call a "Nuit Blanche" I didn't sleep at all. Why? Because I spent the whole night with a snoring cuddly baby on me. I can't wait for her to get better...

Anyway, you are not here for that, you are here to know what happened down the beach this morning. A couple of days ago, Annina contacted me to know if I could take photos of her SurfAid team in order to drive some donations. On which I responded, hell yes! Anything that involves, girls, bikinis and Bondi Beach I'm up for it... Just joking! I'm here for the cause. ;)

The SurfAid Cup is the signature fundraiser for SurfAid globally. SurfAid’s core mission is to save the lives of women and children in remote areas of Indonesia. They specialise in working in very isolated villages where the maternal and child mortality rate is extremely high. In the past sixteen years, in addition to building award winning health programs, SurfAid has helped communities re-build their lives after five major natural disasters — earthquakes and tsunamis in the area.

And this is this their fundraising page, their team is Saltwater Curls and they're the only all-female team in this years competition. Go girls! I'm proud of ya!

Morning my friends,

First of all, thank you so much to all of you for all your kind words about my daughter. That was another tough one last night... I took the second shift, so while my wife was looking after her from 11pm to 3am, I took the 3am-6:30am shift. Poor little thing! Let's hope that she get better soon...

This morning, too exhausted to exercise and too late anyway, I just went for coffee with my friend Simon, a few photos and my wake-up swim. Best decision ever made, I finally feel alive...

The surf was still pumping, there were a bit less surfers in the water and the sun was shining. Happy days!!

I love Australia. You love Australia. We all do! And this week guess what that is? It’s Keep Australia Beautiful Week, I had no idea that this existed but it’s a thing. Check their website for more info but basically it’s all about taking the pledge, to pick up 1 piece of rubbish per day for the week. I know, too easy but now it’s a matter of doing it!

Many thanks to the guys from Biology Skin for letting me know about this great initiative. Sick!

Morning my friends,

Sick! And I'm not talking about the surfing conditions or the number of surfers in the water or even my interview in The Beast Magazine but my poor daughter who is sick with 40.5 degrees temperature. I was up all night... How fun!

Today was pure madness way too many surfers out there, it was ding town and believe me I saw a few this morning. A real video game...

How big was the surf all weekend?! Crazy! Today was same same but more surf friendly...

No exercise today, just by myself I went for coffee, photos and swim. Had a quick chat with Anna & Uge and back home.

It was pretty overcast all morning, up to the moment I hit the sand and the light decided to be bright and beautiful.

This morning not much exercise for me as Charlotte woke up early and so I was looking after her and to be honest I couldn't be bothered. I had a few beers last night with my mate Anthony and so the motivation was pretty low...

Morning my friends,

Hope you all had a good night sleep.

This morning was pretty amazing down there. With no clouds in the sky, the sunrise was pretty bright, outside it was pretty mild which made the water actually colder than the air. Quite unusual at this time of the year.

Other than this, the good news is that the fine team from Olympus Australia got in touch with me and I should be receiving some gear to try out next week. Yew!! Thanks so much to them and to you for your support. Can I please ask you a favour and bombard them with likes and comments on their Facebook comment, they deserve a lot of love, as you also do. Hello friends,

First of all, thank you so much for all your support about my camera issues on Facebook, emails and Instagram. No sponsorship deal as yet but on a more positive note, I found the problem. I now know that the camera is fine but it's my lens that is having an issue...

So today I took my 50mm out, not ideal for surf photography but not bad at all for landscape and portraits...

Today was surprisingly warm out there, 22 degrees and we are in the middle of winter. Cray-cray!! I went down the beach with my daughter Charlotte and we joined our good friends David, Hamish, Simon and Paul. Talking about Paul, he took a cute photo of my daughter and I, thank you so much mate! Mayday, Bondi we have a problem...

Since this morning my camera and lens have been playing tricks with me. I have no idea what but it says that there is a connection problem between the two. I was lucky enough to take this shots by switching on and off the camera. Is that time for an upgrade? Probably!

Mine was pretty awesome, from this amazing Rebalance experience at the QT Bondi, catch-ups with friends, surf and a photoshoot for this pretty cool brand of activewear for mums and pregnant women called Movemami.

This morning it was smokin' and by smoking, I mean something somewhere was burning... Hope everything is alright.

Morning my friends,

This Friday is starting very very very well...

Reason #1 (and probably the most obvious):

Well let's start with the sunrise. It was just incredible! I reckon this is the best that we had this year. The colours and the texture were out of this world. I know what you are going to tell me, they look fake and I'm with you on that. It does look like a mad designer decided to play with our minds... Believe me they were real!

Reason #2

The official worldwide Instagram account of Google with their 4.5 million followers decided to share one of the photos that I took with my Pixel phone. Here it is: BOOM! For the little story about my phone, read this article I do have a massive passion for my Google Pixel - perfect for photographers!

Reason #3

Tonight, I'm having a staycation or should I say a stayFriday at the QT Bondi and experience their winter ‘ReBalance in Bondi’ program. Basically, I'm staying overnight at the QT, then swim at the Speedos Fitness Club downstairs and finally a brekkie at Drake. How cool is that?! If I'm not ReBalanced after that, there is something wrong with me!! Thanks so much to QT Bondi and Cav Con for this amazing experience. Can't wait... Expect a lot of Instagram Stories!

Oh hello my friends...

Did you see the sunrise this morning? The sky kept on giving today...

No joke, at 5:45am when I was giving the bottle to my daughter, I could already tell that it was going to be a cracker. I was right by 6:30am when I arrive down the beach it was magnificent! All pink and orange...

No exercise this morning as I was with Charlotte, only the best bits really: coffee, photos and hanging out with my mates.

I know it's not a competition but I reckon I have the best friends... They are the best, looking after my daughter as if it was there. You rock guys!

Did you see the full moon last night? This was pretty incredible, my Instagram feed was full of full moon shots... It was still there this morning when I woke up.

This morning as every Tuesday we went to jungle gym with part of the crew, then joined the rest for coffee. All together, I saw nine of my mates and all this before going to work... Love starting my day like this!

Let's be honest, usually Monday sucks but when they start like this, it's pretty awesome...

The sky was on fire for 5 minutes and trust me it was well worth waking up at 5:30am for that.

I went for a run up to Dudley Page Reserve, the best place to watch the sunset in the Eastern Suburbs, then coffee with my mate Dave and finished off by a swim. Today was a bit chilly I have to be honest.

Morning my friends,

You know what is worst than having only 2% battery on your phone? It's to start the Morning Bondi session with only 1 bar of battery in your camera. Trust me that makes you think twice before you take any shots...

It's been 6 years that I take photos every morning, you would expect that I don't do anymore these type of mistakes. Well, apparently not...

Other than this, today was a cracker! I know I tend to repeat myself but what can I say... It was pretty sun-sational!

Morning my friends,

Everyday I bump into the same people, the early birds, the ones that can't imagine starting their day without going to the beach... I love this crowd, like me they understand the benefits of waking up early, watching the sunrise over North Bondi and some of them, the pleasure of going in the water.

That's it for today, I'm late for work because I end up staying too long on the beach.

Les archives. Another day, another rainy day… As I could see it was not raining, I ventured down much later than usual, around 6:45 am. I just arrived and a light drizzle started. What are the chances?! I joined my mates for a quick dip in the ocean and coffee at Chapter One (my unofficial gallery, they have five of my prints on the wall). Still worth going out, if you ask me… Have a great day my friends and stay warm as it’s a bit nippy at the moment. Ciao, Amo PS: I’m going camping this weekend with a bunch of mates but pretty sure I don’t have the right equipment to cope with the cold. I only have a summer sleeping bag… It’s going to be fun, they say. 🤦🏽‍♂️🥶

Rainy days. Do you know what rainy days mean? It means archive days. Here are photos from the past couple of months, most of them were my second favourite ones so you wouldn’t have seen them before. As you know, I love doing my Morning Bondi routine but it actually takes so much time. I’m talking about the photo bit especially. At the moment, I take photos from 6:30ish when the sun is up for roughly 30-40 minutes, then selection of the good photos for 20 mins, light edit the best ones for 10 mins, then write the morning blurb for 3-5 mins (I tend not to overthink this, as you can tell), then upload of each individual photos on the blog for 10 minutes, then newsletter for 5 minutes, then Instagram for 3 minutes, Facebook 3 minutes and Instagram Story 3 minutes. Basically, around 1.5 hours on average. So yes sometimes, I’m glad when it’s raining as I’m saving so much time. Have a beautiful day, despite the weather, and chat with you tomorrow, Xoxo Amo

Golden Sea. Slow start this morning, it was pretty average unless you could wait up to 8am (I couldn’t) to see the sun popping out behind the curtain of clouds. It was all about the golden reflection of the hidden sun on the water. Gold 24-carat for a few minutes. I don’t have much to tell you today except that if you live locally and love ‘Shark Tank’ TV show, you will love the local version of it. It’s called the Bondi Innovation Shark Tank organised by the @bondichamber and it’s next Wednesday at @hotelravesis You can find all the deets in the media release and book your tickets on the blog. I’m going with my awesome business partner Mary Proulx and supporting Sam Cust, one of the sharks (I think that’s what we call them). If you come down, let’s have a beer and break bread (what I love the most about our business name is that the puns are endless). I loaf you! (see) Amo

Nothing to worry about, it's just a tornado off North Bondi, ... 🌪️😲 I took this photo this morning around 9:30 am. I was shooting with @versefinejewellery in South Bondi when we saw this waterspout tornado coming out of nowhere. Scary much? Look closely and you can see the person around Ben Buckler's cliffs running for his life... That's all folks!

Pure Heaven. What another beautiful start to the day! While yesterday was all about big waves, today was all about the mad reflo on the sand - absolutely stunning. I was sitting just next to Morning Bondi HQ and was snapping like a maniac. Low-tide goodness. What a stunning morning! Today was all about the low-tide gold reflection. It was just the perfect conditions for photos. The problem, only a few people out including two metal hunters. I was with fellow Frenchy @dianeperreau all morning. I reckon she’s the most popular French person in Sydney. So many people are stopping her every morning to have a chat and take a selfie with her. Have a lovely day my friends, Ciao, Amo

Into the wild. What a cracker of a morning! For a change of scenery, I ventured down to Bronte this morning. I reckon I made the right choice, it was just an incredible show. I was with my mate @paolocattaneophoto for the entire morning and we were just looking at the waves rolling in. Bronte Pool was the best place in da house. If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen the very rare video of me talking to the camera. With @bread_agency, my agency, I recently started working with the team from @in2thewild.aus, the best tiny houses business around. In order to have a better understanding of the experience, the client kindly invited me to go for a couple of days with my wife and daughter. Real legends, best onboarding! The whole experience was amazing - especially for someone like me that is pretty hyperactive. I just ‘re-wilded’ for two days. Even though the network was working where we were, I put my phone in airplane mode the whole weekend and made the most of the experience. The tiny house was kitted with all the things that you need, all the products in there are premium and sourced from ethical brands. Let’s be honest the firepit and outdoor bath were the highlights for me. I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially if you are like me and struggle to switch off. Monday Madness. This is a very late update compared to usual but busy day today. This morning was just nuts down the beach. I only took a few photos before having to rush to an early meeting in the city. The swell should still be here tomorrow, so go and have a look if you can. Xoxo Amo

FriYay. How’s everyone today? After two days in Melbs (Melbourne for the hipsters), I’m back in the hood. What a morning! Incredible light, the surf was ON and the Icebergs was packed - perfect for photo ops. This morning I caught up with my mate Ben, a fellow Frenchy that I haven’t seen for years. We hung out around the Bergs and finished with a swim in South Bondi - how original. Enjoy your weekends my friends. Mine is going to be pretty epic. I’m going into the wild, literally.
