Back to the routine

Morning team,

After a pretty hectic week last week, spending three days in Melbourne and early meetings the other two, I'm glad to be back to my routine.

I had good intentions to train this morning but the light was good when it was time to train so took some photos instead.

Bumped into the iconic Balle Tief gang doing their daily "tea-bagging" in the ocean and joined them for coffee afterwards. Good group of men who love hanging out every day for swim and coffee.

Have a lovely week my friends and I should be in a position to take photos almost every day. 🤞🏼

The Big 4.0

Morning gang,

I'm usually not making a big deal out of my birthdays but this time it's a pretty big milestone so here you go. Turning 40 today. BOOM!

It started with a beautiful sunrise and I was definitely here for it. Great vibes all around, as every Friday really.

I woke up early pretty sore from a basketball match last night. A massive thank you to Baz Dubois for putting a team of local legends together. We lost but the energy and atmosphere were unreal. My last game was probably 25 years ago but gosh I love this sport. You can see a photo of the dream team on Baz's profile.

Finally, please do not expect photos next week as I have a busy week and I'm in Melbourne for most of it but I might be able to squeeze photos on Thursday or Friday. We shall see...

That's it for today, have a wonderful day and a great weekend. I certainly will.

Lots of love,

R U OK?

Morning gang,

R U OK?

Today is the official R U OK? Day, a very special day. I already mentioned it yesterday but check on your family and friends and make sure that they are mentally fit. I'm more than OK! Loving life and all that. Are you? If you are not, please seek help. If you are not feeling too well, there are some wonderful organisations that can help you cope. You can find them all on this page.

I rocked up late, took a few photos of what was in front of me, went for my daily dose of Vitamin Sea and joined my mates for coffee. Life is good.

On another note, if you live locally, Aussie musicians Peking Duk are launching their new escargot food truck venture, freshly named by the public “Escar on the Go”, with a free live performance at Bondi Pavillion today from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Get in early if you want to see them performing and score some freebies.

Morning gang,

How’s everyone today?

Tomorrow is R U OK? Day but honestly it should be every day. Checking on your family and friends should not only be one day a year but every day. To mark R U OK? day, this morning started down in South Bondi with a meditation class organised by Luke Galea from A Space for Being and Lee from SocialLee Marketing. Good on you guys!

After a rough night, I rocked up early and snapped away. I also bumped into a few familiar faces, love this bit more than the photos, to be honest, but you already know that.

Besides the Reel and the Instagram Story of ‘Air Skippy’, my apologies for not posting yesterday but I was busy on a TV commercial shoot. If you want to see a sneak peek, I posted a quick behind-the-scene on my personal Instagram.

Have a cracking day my friend,

Smokey

Morning gang,

Hope you had a good weekend.

The smoke coming from the preventative burn-off in the North and South was creating an interesting filter. I started in South Bondi and finished in North Bondi, to join my mates post-workout.

What a stunning morning, too tired to train, I just concentrated on what I do best coffee, photos and a dip in the ocean. The air and water were a bit fresh this morning but you never regret it.

Have an awesome week my friends. I might not be able to chat tomorrow as we are shooting a TVC for one of our Bread Agency clients which means an early start. Hopefully, I get time to do an Instagram Reel like I did last week.

By the way, sorry for the radio silence on the newsletter front but lately it’s been pretty busy on the work front so not necessarily much time to take photos, select, edit the best ones and post across the various channels. Remember, Morning Bondi is just a hobby that takes a fair bit of time and commitment. 😅

Meh to Yeah

Morning team,

How's everyone today?

This morning started all meh but quickly turned into all yeah when the sun finally popped up over the clouds.

After a Bondi to Bronte run, I joined my friend Caroline for coffee and swim. Of course, we had to organise a quick photoshoot.

By the way, I was thinking I should specialise in Tinder profiles. Imagine having your photo taken down the beach looking all wet and sexy. The payment would be as simple as I take a commission on your success rate ie. the number your profile gets a right swipe. I obviously can’t do anything if you don’t have a good banter. Do we have a deal?! 🤪

Have a lovely day gang and chat tomorrow,

MOAN-DAY

Morning gang,

How’s everyone? Did you have a good weekend?

Let’s be honest, it was hard to wake up this morning and even more so to workout after a 6-month hiatus but it had to be done. Trained with a bunch of maniacs doing push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups… One thing that it’s clear I was definitely not ‘up’ for it!

With all the clouds, the sun decided to turn up later than usual and I was here for it. I hung around North Bondi and took photos of what was going on. Bumped into a few familiar faces so I had to take their mug shots.

Hope you had a great start to the day,

Today was looking a lot different than yesterday. Sunrise was alright but waves completely died off so are the number of people around. Not that many photo subjects, just the usual suspects.

I arrived just in time for sunrise, took a few photos and rushed back home as I have a busy day ahead. I'm about to present at the NoVacancy conference at the ICC all my trade secrets about how to make videos that engage and convert and then off to another event straight after. 🍞 is on tour!

After a 6-month hiatus, I went for a Bondi to Bronte run this morning. Let's be honest, it was pretty challenging but feeling good now. You never regret doing a bit of exercise. Do you?

For a change, I walked down the shoreline and took photos of what was going on in front of me. Snap, snap and snap! So many photo opportunities and good to bump into all the local legends.

Have a stunning day my friends and see you down the beach very soon.

Morning gang,

My apologies for the radio silence over the past 3 days but between work, camping weekend and adjusting to new time zones, I find it hard to wake up at 5:30 am. I'm getting old too, in a bit more than two weeks, I'm turning 40. 😅😬

Anyhow, this morning was magnificent and you never really regret going down the beach. Woke up just before 6 am, and ventured down to the beach to capture the sunrise and the surf. There were a few good waves and hundreds of surfers making the most of the swell. Yew!

Morning peeps,

With last night's rain, it deterred people from going down the beach, it was all very quiet.

As I'm still a bit jetlagged, I rocked up late, just in time for the sun to pop up over the clouds.

It was glorious with stunning light but not that many photo subjects. If you were down there, I should have a photo of you. Chatted with a few good people, then swim and that would do it for this morning.

By the way, I won't be able to go down tomorrow and Friday as shooting with Channel 7 tomorrow for a 🍞 client and going camping on Friday morning.

Enjoy the rest of your week and chat with you on Monday,

Oh hello, my friends,

How's everyone going? Missed me much?

That's it after 6 weeks in France and spending last week recovering from jetlag and waiting for the weather to clear out, I'm back to my routine and it feels real good!

I ventured down to South Bondi to watch the sunrise, there was not much happening with the clouds on the horizon line but then the sun started to pop up around 6:50ish and it was glorious.

Just the time to join my mates in North Bondi wrapping up their workout and going for a swim and coffee.

Usual suspects

Morning gang,

The sun is back in town so is the light breeze. It was stunning out there but pretty cold.

It was pretty quiet down there so concentrated on taking photos of the usual suspects, the friendly faces that I see most mornings.

I get contacted a lot to post about local events or promotions going on but unless it's a charity or not-for-profit doing good for the Bondi community I tend to refuse if it's not aligned with my values and without payment. I don't want Morning Bondi to be a sell-out, just want to bring you the best of the best. ;)

Here is one thing that I'm happily promoting: Kindamindi is a local, not-for-profit community childcare centre that has been loved by Bondi families for over 30 years. They’ve just kicked off their big raffle fundraiser and the prizes are amazing. All you need to do is head to their website and grab some tickets. Now that tick all the boxes for me, charity element and helping our little ones, so here you go.

Morning gang,

How good was this morning!

Were you down there? Did you see the sunrise? Stunning light all the way and I was in South Bondi, my usual corner. We can say whatever we want but at sunrise SoBo (for the hipsters - do they still exist?) is THE place to be. NoBo is for sunset.

I snapped like a maniac and took way too many photos. I was probably overcompensating because I won’t be posting any photos tomorrow morning. We are shooting a TV Commercial for a client. Yeah, Bread can do this too. That’s actually my background, I launched Sixtine, a production house in Paris more than 18 years ago. My former business partners are still running and smashing it! Last week before Summer

Hola gang,

How’s everyone today? Great weekend?

Yes, I know the title of this blog is a bit clickbaity but in exactly a week, I will be on the plane direction European Summer. Since Covid and not being able to go back to France to see our family and friends for 4 years, we decided to go back every year. Good resolution, I know!

All this to say, that this is my last week here and I won’t be back in Bondi before mid-August. Yeah, I know what you might be thinking, only 6 weeks?! ;)

Enough about me, today was super quiet and on top of that I was in North Bondi, so even more quiet. Luckily, there were a few friends around to take photos.

Have a cracking week my friends and chat with you tomorrow,

You're late mate

Morning people,

Happy Friday, as they say.

As expected, this morning was grey and uninspiring. Of course, the sun decided to pop up in the end but just around 8am. Too late mate!

So this morning, I just chilled in bed doing nothing else than checking the entries to the ‘Caption Competition’ organised on my Stories yesterday. So many good ones I have to say. You guys are creative, love it! It was hard to choose and I’m yet to decide between the following:

  • Option 1: ‘Kill 2 birds with 1 stone’ by @seeshots

  • Option 2: ‘Not mine! Not mine! Not mine!’ by @bambamhats

  • Option 3: ‘20 years marriage’ by @bemarnu

Which one do you guys prefer, weigh in below with #1, #2 or #3. The one that gets the most vote will win will get the Bread Agency tote bag. BOOM!

As I don’t want to leave you without photos of the beach, here are some of my favourite photos taken over the past month.

HIDE & SEEK

Hola gang,

What's up?

All morning the sun plays hide and seek with the clouds. Stunning when the light was on, boring the rest of the time.

It was pretty quiet down there. Luckily, I had my mates in South Bondi frolicking in the water and the Tans (Debbie & Jet) to have photo subjects, otherwise, it would have been only photos of seagulls and the sun's reflection on the sand.

Let's see what the sunrise looks like tomorrow but the forecast is not too promising. The perfect time to stay in bed and enter the Into The Wild competition to win a trip away in one of their 46+ tiny houses all across Australia. If you are not convinced, hopefully, all the photos and videos from my weekend away will do. You can thank me later!

Morning gang,

How’s everyone today? Cold?

After days of calm water with not much surf action, the swell is back in town so are the thousands of surfers. Too lazy to wake up at 5:30 am this morning, I slept in up until 6:15 am to arrive down the beach just before sunrise.

The photos today are not amazing (are they ever though?) but I feel that they still capture the essence of what was going on down there. If you don’t like them, send your complaints to nothappy@morningbondi.com and our Customer Service team will get back to you shortly.
